Instituto Bardi’s new website inserts the institution – founded in 1990 by Lina Bo Bardi and Pietro Maria Bardi – into the contemporary digital reality. The platform is a window connecting the Bardis’ life and work with the world and, above all, updating the possibilities of interpretation and interaction with the new generation.

The website is an internal research project of over two years of work and for the first time compiles a retrospective of Instituto Bardi’s cultural activities carried out until now, praising the work of all those who have collaborated with the Institute in its 30 years of life.

In addition to the retrospective of all cultural activities within the Casa de Vidro, the website lists all the participations of its archive around the world. The archive is a fundamental pillar of the Institute and in this way consolidates its importance, showing the active life of the legacy that the Institute now cares for and manages. The archive interacts with curators, editors, and researchers from all corners of the globe, and since its inauguration has participated in over 200 exhibitions.

The Archive also gains its own page as a research tool, improving its previous version, facilitating the search of more than 8000 drawings by Lina Bo Bardi, and also has a history of its conformation and a direct page for requests for images, research, certifications, and loans directly on the website, which will help organize requests, streamlining service and thus maintaining the Bardi Institute’s pioneering private architecture archive.

The new website updates Instituto Bardi’s graphic language – formally launching its logo and mixing the rich collection of historical images with new videos and images created specifically for the platform and giving it a solid and contemporary look.

For the first time, the website becomes a source of direct information on the life and work of Lina Bo Bardi and P.M. Bardi, compiling the bibliography, mapping the work, providing information on frequently asked questions, and compiling all the publications developed by the Institute.

Furthermore, the website includes all the reeditions carried out, directing them to the pages of the partners who produce Lina Bo Bardi’s furniture, lamps and pieces. And the Institute’s first online store, with books, and one more novelty… at the store it is possible to buy Lina’s chairs in 3D for architects to place in the drawing illustrations.

Within the website it will be possible to see the work of mediators/educators, the visit of architects, curators, researchers, and well known figures of international contemporary culture who visit the Casa de Vidro. For the first time, the house floorplans are put up, along with the possibility of renting it for financial support and a retrospective of events held in recent years.

This project is the result of the effort of Instituto Bardi in the management of executive director Waldick Jatobá. The project was developed, designed, and coordinated by the architect and cultural director Sol Camacho with the support of the Council as part of the last stage of the Management and Conservation Plan project sponsored by the Keeping It Modern project of the Getty Foundation.
