The Bauhaus Imaginista project marked the celebrations for the centenary of the Bauhaus and started from a broad approach of languages and territories to address the school’s influence and its consequences on cultural production in several countries.

In the context of the commemorations of 100 years of the Bauhaus, the exhibition was part of a sequence of exhibitions organized concomitantly in different locations, highlighting the ways and processes with which the school influenced the production of these places, directly or indirectly. With this in mind, exhibitions were organized in the United States, Morocco, Japan, China, Mexico, Russia, Nigeria, India, Germany, Switzerland and Brazil. First mounted in São Paulo, the Brazilian exhibition was taken to Berlin, where it was added to other exhibitions and, finally, to Switzerland.

For Brazilian editing, the intercession of vernacular art and craft with the principles defended by the Bauhaus in our modernism was evidenced. Indigenous, Afro-Brazilian, popular or simply marginalized productions that were incorporated into modern processes were exhibited along with works clearly marked by the Bauhaus influence in the country.

Instituto Bardi / Casa de Vidro contributed with items from its popular art collection, which Lina Bo Bardi collected during her period in northeastern Brazil.
