A Casa como casa

April 7th – July 2nd, 2018

Instituto Bardi / Casa de Vidro resumed the domestic environment shared by Lina Bo and Pietro Maria Bardi in the 1990s, with the furniture and objects from the social area characteristic of the original setting of the iconic Bardi residence.

The exhibition revealed objects little known to the public, such as Exus in iron, various ex-votos in wood, items from the popular art collection, office supplies by Pietro and drawings by Lina, some ceramics and silverware from the kitchen, as well as books and potted plants scattered around the room, which gave more life to the Glass House.

With the purpose of reproducing as much as possible of the couple’s daily life, Sol Camacho’s research involved photographic records of the collection to study the arrangement of objects, however some items considered important no longer belonged to the Institute’s collection, as a result of the numerous donations made in life by the couple themselves and division of the couple’s estate, on the occasion of Bardi’s death, between the institution and his daughters.

To fill in these gaps, the curatorship of the exhibition sought to borrow the items from the current owners, such as the Ivani and Jorge Yunes Collection, who granted two carved wooden consoles and a marble top belonging to the Italian Baroque.

The absence of rugs from the room was remedied through a partnership with the company By Kamy, which loaned similar rugs.
