GLASS HOUSE: LINA BO BARDI IN DIALOGUE WITH SVERRE FEHN
ARCHITEKTURMUSEUM
Oslo, Norway
January 27 – May 13, 2017
The Glass House: Lina Bo Bardi exhibition in dialogue with Sverre Fehn presented Lina Bo Bardi’s famous design, built in São Paulo and used as the architect’s residence for over 40 years, inside Sverre Fehn’s glass pavilion.
For the exhibition, the house of the Italian-Brazilian architect was placed inside the glass pavilion designed by Sverre Fehn. This displacement was accomplished through the installation produced by Veronika Kellndorfer, commissioned for the exhibition. Her work consisted of the disposition of several photographs of the artist printed on glass and placed on concrete bases, such as those by MASP, next to a model of the suspended part of the Glass House, in scale 1: 2.
The exhibition proposed an investigation into the possible relationships between the two buildings and the productions of their architects. Geographically distant, some elements of the trajectory and thoughts of Lina Bo Bardi and Sverre Fehn are common to both narratives. Among such elements, the commitment to urban rehabilitation projects, the interest in exhibition design and the exploration of the surroundings for the development of architectural projects stand out. The latter is evident in the use of glass as a prominent material, as can be seen in the constructions directly referred to in the exhibition.
