Bringing together paintings, sculptures, photographs, models, furniture and audiovisual pieces, the exhibition AAA – Anthology of Art and Architecture presents a possible dialogue between artistic and architectural production. Organized for the 2019 EXPO CHICAGO, the show is in its second assembly, now in São Paulo.
The exhibition started from architecture as a language in the articulation of more than 100 works by different Brazilian artists, architects and designers. Curated by Sol Camacho, the exhibition was organized around three exhibition axes based on architectural elements: Blocks, Walls, Pillars and Surfaces, referring to the constructive components of the objects; Subtraction, Transparency and Color, some formal procedures present in the productions; and Interiors and Facades, a category related to these spatial concepts. Initially organized for presentation at EXPO CHICAGO, International Contemporary and Modern Art Exhibition, as a brief mapping of Brazilian art and architecture, the exhibition was also mounted in São Paulo in the form of an anthology.
The Instituto Bardi / Casa de Vidro collaborated for the exhibition with the loan of a model of the Museum of Art of São Paulo. The piece presented is one of the first versions designed by Lina Bo Bardi for the Museum, with a concrete façade and the introduction of plants, forming a subtle vertical garden. Also for that version, a ladder in the shape of a flower was planned. Both elements are little known in the study of the project and I express the architect’s interest in the Atlantic ecosystem.
