ACCESS FOR ALL: SÃO PAULO'S ARCHITECTURAL INFRASTRUCTURES

The exhibition Access for All: São Paulo’s Architectural Infrastructures was organized by the Architekturmuseum der TUM, Munich. Proposing to analyze the architectural infrastructure of the city of São Paulo, the exhibition was later taken to the Center for Architecture, in New York.

Curated by Daniel Talesnik, Access for All: São Paulo’s Architectural Infrastructures resulted from research on the architecture of the city of São Paulo, taken as an emblematic case of a megacity with diverse needs and socioeconomic problems. In São Paulo, where there is an evident lack of recreational, cultural and sporting spaces and programs, there are, however, several attempts to contribute to urban development through architectural projects.

Public, semi-public and private projects were analyzed, through which different social agents seek to create inclusive spaces for urban society. The selection of projects has extended from the 1950s, a period of establishment and consolidation of the modern paradigm in Brazilian architecture, to the present day, being, in this way, a research both historical and referring to the architecture currently produced. By Lina Bo Bardi, the projects of SESC Pompéia and the São Paulo Museum of Art, two of the main works of the architect, were present at the exhibition.
