Jardim Suspenso
August 10th – September 21st, 2019
To mark 35 years of activity at Estúdio Campana, Instituto Bardi / Casa de Vidro opened space for the installation signed by Fernando and Humberto Campana. The choice of space was not random, the iconic project of the residence of the couple Lina and Pietro, and the work of the architect, especially in the design of furniture, influenced the Campana brothers above all in experimenting with materials and innovating the forms and structures of the signed works by the Studio.
Entitled “Jardim Suspenso”, the installation occupied the social area of the Glass House, the thin internal structural pillars of Lina’s project were covered with piassava fibers, while three other pillars were erected in the totally free space of the great hall, also involved with the piassava tree, forming a wood of trunks, integrated into the outdoor garden, fully revealed by the glass windows without interference from the traditional raw line curtains.
Also in the internal space, a bench structure presents, in front of the main door, a series of miniatures of uncomfortable chairs, with ten new pieces, marking the 30th anniversary of the first creation, in 1989.
In addition to the installation, the Glass House garage housed a mini exhibition of five pieces of furniture signed by the Campanas, including a copy of the original “Hate 3”, which originated the series of Uncomfortable chairs.
